Career Transitions

Career Transitions

Last year, more than 290 students received job coaching, practiced interviewing or networked with employers.

For many of our students, improving their basic literacy skills is just the beginning. Literacy Pittsburgh’s Career Transitions program focuses on helping students access postsecondary training, explore job opportunities, and fill high-demand positions. Our goal is to help students transition into jobs that offer both a solid career path and a family-sustaining wage.

Students meet one-on-one with our transitions manager who helps them explore career opportunities and identify next steps. For those who wish to continue their education, this could mean arranging college tours, applying for postsecondary education, and identifying options for financial aid. For those looking to improve their employment options, we help students polish their resumes, navigate online job applications, and prepare for job interviews.

Our strong partnerships with local employers and postsecondary schools are key to the success of this program and the students we serve. We encourage our current students, as well as our Literacy Pittsburgh alumni, to participate in our Career Transitions program.
