I'M READY TO HELP

The Empowering Readers for Success (ERAS) Tutoring Program pairs volunteers with children in select Allegheny County school districts. This innovative tutoring opportunity uses a unique approach to guide lessons. After each session, a personalized lesson plan is created based on a student's progress and learning needs. This minimizes the prep work you need to do as a volunteer. As an ERAS tutor you will:

  • Volunteer as a reading tutor for students in grades K-3.
  • Meet with a child twice weekly for 30 minutes during the school day or after school, depending on location. The total time commitment is 2-3 hours each week.
  • Complete a free four-hour training session.
  • You will receive ongoing training and support.
  • A high school diploma is required for this volunteer opportunity.

Current participating sites include Clairton City Schools, Catalyst Charter Academy, Environmental Charter School, Pittsburgh Public Schools, and Woodland Hills School District
