East End – Pittsburgh East

Literacy Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh East office provides free literacy programs for adults in the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Shadyside, East Liberty, Wilkinsburg as well as Monroeville, Penn Hills and Verona. We can help you get a GED diploma so you can get a better job. We can help you with math and reading so you can pass the entrance test for job training or college. We can also help you learn English or get ready for the U.S. citizenship exam. If you would like to become a student, visit the Start Now section of our website to learn more.

If you are looking for volunteer opportunities in the East End or Eastern Suburbs of Pittsburgh, please consider becoming a literacy tutor. Visit the Volunteers section of our website to learn how you can give back to your community by helping a student in your neighborhood get a better job and support their children in school.

We are proud to work with many partner organizations in Pittsburgh’s East End, including International Women's Association of Pittsburgh, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (Hazelwood and East Liberty branches), and Lincoln Elementary School. The Pittsburgh East office offers a GED Preparation class at CCAC - Homewood-Brushton campus and a Culinary Training/Work Ready class at Community Kitchen.
