The Career Services team at Literacy Pittsburgh is dedicated to helping students carve a path forward through a variety of methods. Whether students are looking to write a resume, apply for jobs, find training programs, or discuss their options, we are here to help. Some of the services we provide include:
Drop-in Hours are offered 3 days per week at our Downtown Center. They are designed to help answer job search-related questions quickly. No appointment needed.
Career Advising is for students who want more regular check-ins with a Career Advisor. During meetings, we can help students find jobs to apply for, polish resumes and cover letters, and apply for programs that will help them reach their career goals.
Information Sessions are offered throughout the year with different organizations in the Pittsburgh area. We partner with Community College of Allegheny County, Community College of Beaver County, University of Pittsburgh, New Century Careers, and more These sessions aim to give students opportunities to discuss the programs offered and learn the steps to get involved.
Workshops are offered on a rotating basis. In the resume workshop and cover letter workshop, students learn how to market their skills and create a professional resume to use during their job search. Students walk away with knowledge on resumes, cover letters, networking, and LinkedIn.
Career Days are offered during the year, with the next planned for February. Students and employers have the opportunity to meet and interact in a relaxed atmosphere.
We are excited to offer these opportunity for students to build skills, explore new career pathways, and connect with organizations.
