South Side – Pittsburgh West

Literacy Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh West office provides free literacy programs for adults in the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Northside, South Side, Hill District, Greentree, and Carnegie. We can help you get a GED diploma so you can get a better job. We can help you with math and reading so you can pass the entrance test for job training or college. We can also help you learn English or get ready for the U.S. citizenship exam. If you would like to become a student, visit the Start Now section of our website to learn more.

If you are looking for volunteer opportunities in the Downtown Pittsburgh, Northside, or Southside neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, please consider becoming a literacy tutor. Visit the Volunteers section of our website to learn how you can give back to your community by helping a student in your neighborhood get a better job and support their children in school.

We are proud to work with many partner organizations in Pittsburgh, including Brashear Association, Andrew Carnegie Free Library, Hill District Consensus Group, Skyview Terrace, Sheraden LibraryPittsburgh Public Schools Gifted Center in Crafton Heights, and the Birmingham Foundation.
